Bonnet (hood) prop rod holder

Reproduction bonnet prop holder. Fits: 1973-79 Civic

There are two different versions. The early cars up to about 1976 used a 6mm steel rod that hooks into a little tab that sticks out from the underside of the bonnet. From some time in 1976 or early 77 (possibly dependent on model and country) the bonnet prop changed to a 7.5mm plastic coated rod with a hook on the end that hooks into a hole in the underside of the bonnet.
Available to fit the 6mm and 7.5mm rods in black, blue and red.

Installation: They are not the easiest things to install. It's very hard to push one into its slot from inside the engine bay. On models up to 1977 the easiest way to get one in is to pull it from the back with a pair of pliers. A fair bit of force is needed but one must still be a bit careful not to tear it. It's much easier to do with the guard (fender) removed but is possible with it in place. On 78/79 models one has no choice but to insert it from the engine bay as the slot it fits into leads to a closed cavity. You will need to work it into the slot with some needle nose piers or similar (be careful!)
